Bald Eagle

(Haliaeetus leucocephalus)

Geographic Location- the Gulf of Mexico to the Arctic

Habitat- they live near inland lakes, rivers, steams and wooded swamps

Song- a harsh crackle, kweek-kik-ik-ik-ik-ik or a lower kak-kak-kak

Location Observed- near Mississippi River in Wisconsin

Date Observed- 6/28/99

Personal Notes- I noticed that the Bald Eagle is really quite large. When my mom snatched this picture we were about a five hundred feet away from it. It sat there in the tree as if to pose for the shot waiting for attention.
