Black-capped Chickadee
(Parus
atricapillus)
Geographic Location- Ontario and Newfoundland south to Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and North Carolina
Habitat- All forests, all shrubs, and residential areas
Song- a clearly enunciated chick-a-dee-dee-dee
or dee-dee-dee
Location Observed- my front yard
Date Observed- 4/11/01
Personal Notes- These small birds have a black cap, a black bib, and white cheeks. They are among the most common birds I see at the bird feeder. I see them all year around because black-capped chickadees don’t migrate south for the winter.
