Flamingo
(Phoenicopteridae)
Geographic Location- Occasional on the Florida coast
Habitat- wetlands
Song- makes a gurgling noise sort of like a long chicken ‘cluck’
Location Observed- Miami, Florida
Date Observed- 2/18/98
Personal Notes- Flamingos are a very unique bird; not only because it’s bright pink. In the picture above the flamingo seem to have one leg. My sister used to call them the ‘one-legged birds’ when she was younger. In fact, their second leg is tucked up underneath themselves. Flamingos have a very long and flexible neck for snatching up fish in shallow water.
