Mallard

(Anas platyrhynchos)

 

Geographic Location- common in all the United States

 

Habitat- all wetlands

 

Song- the female quacks like a barnyard duck; males, a reedy yeeb-yeeb

 

Location Observed- Near a shallow creek in the D.N.R. land

behind our farm.

Personal Notes- Mallards are a very common species of bird. They can be found around any lake or pond all over Wisconsin. Their dark green heads and white ring around the neck makes them easy to spot.
